About Us: The Story Behind Motor Squared

At Motor Squared, we’re more than just a motorcycle apparel brand—we’re a family that has lived and breathed motorcycles for generations. Our dedication to rider safety and high-quality gear is deeply personal, rooted in decades of experience on the road. 

Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing and crafting high-quality motorcycle protection apparel and gear to the global community of riders.

Our History

The idea for Motor Squared was born out of a pivotal moment in our family’s history. John “Jack” Matthews Sr., the founder's grandfather, had been riding motorcycles since the 1950s. His love for bikes—especially his beloved 1967 Triumph Bonneville—was passed down to his son and (not yet his) grandson.

A Close Call

However, one event in 2016 changed everything. Jack Jr. (the founder father) was involved in a serious motorcycle accident during a long-distance trip that left him with lasting injuries. Though he survived the rear ending, the crash served as a harsh reminder of how vulnerable riders can be on the road.

That accident sparked a new focus for our family—motorcycle safety. Sam Matthews, the founder of Motor Squared, grew up not only with a passion for motorcycles but also with a strong sense of responsibility. 

In 2018, Sam founded Motor Squared with one goal in mind: to provide motorcycle apparel that combines both style and safety, without the need to bust a bank account.

Our Commitment

Today, Motor Squared makes a yearly donation to the National Motorcycle Safety Fund, which funds research that furthers our understanding of Motorcycle Safety like the MSF 100 Motorcyclists Naturalistic Study.

At Motor Squared, we believe that riding is more than just a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. And with that lifestyle comes a responsibility to protect yourself and others on the road.
